Bad cop, Worse cop...
I'm a minority living in New York, so I know that someone like me who has ill feelings towards the NYPD and cops in general isn't new. However, I am compelled to explain a few things.
First, the facts: I hate cops, and not in the way that one hates their drunk uncle at the family party. I've been living in NYC for my entire life and never once have I been robbed or physically assaulted by a civilian. Never once has a civilian pulled a gun or knife on me. Yet, I have been both assaulted and robbed by the NYPD. I have had guns shoved in my face over 15 times, and one of those times I was forced to suck the barrel as if it were a penis, I was 16.
Now here's the kicker: I have never been arrested. Never been charged. Never been questioned at the station. Never put in a squad car--shit--simply put, I don't have a record.
So I pose a question: if you are reading this and also do not have a record nor have never been arrested, how many times has a cop thrown you to the ground? How many times has a cop pointed a gun to your face only to see fear grip you only to come closer and press the nozzle to your forehead?
Unarmed, no less.
You see I'm not afraid of Joe Shmoe walking down the street, but I am afraid of the police. My rights have never been violated by Joe...just the boys in blue. So why is it that I always run into people making the same statement....Not all cops are bad? That's where I disagree.
In almost every situation that I have been in where an officer was blatantly abusing his power, his partner stood there with a look of regret on his face, almost saying "Sorry about this." Yea, I'm sorry too. Thing is, in our society, that's the good cop. If it was just him, without his abusive partner, he wouldn't conduct himself that way. But when he sees his own city's laws being broken by a fellow "protector," he does nothing, simply watches, or gets back in his squad car. These are our city's heroes?
Imagine if you will, Batman beating up on some poor civilian for no reason. Superman flies by and sees this...shakes his head in disappointment and flies off and does nothing. Good cop, indeed.
So please forgive me for being against the type of gun control that leaves law abiding-civilians helpless against all violence and abuse. If you are white, you're gun is a symbol of protection from bad people in case the cops are too late. To me, however, my gun is a symbol of protection from the cops in case my rights are too late.
Therefore, no, there is no such thing as a good cop. That is, unless, officers stop protecting their own and stand up to their heroes in arms. A good cop would file a complaint against a man in a uniform they share and report the abuse of power they see on a daily basis. Fact is, right now the only "bad" cops being taken off the streets are the ones that get caught...funny thing though...it's never a fellow cop that catches them. It's a camera held by Joe Schmoe or a slew of witnesses willing to step up and say something.
So I pose another question: If you believe there are good cops out there doing their jobs, why aren't they ever the ones to catch the bad ones?
Until that question is answered by a cop standing up to his own, the only heroes I know of are the ones bought at a fucking deli.

I totally understand, I grew up with 3 cops and they were "always" right and everyone else is a liar, and females are worthless! Physical abuse? Oh yeah and mentally, emotionally, the whole nine yards!
